Non ZIP+4

Non ZIP+4 addresses cannot be included in an automation mailing, they have to be treated as a separate mailing and mailed as either:

  • A regular pre sorted mailing at the higher postage rate if they meet the minimum volume requirements of 500 for 1st Class or 200 for Standard Mail, or Mailed at the single piece rate... $0.44 for the first 1oz. plus $0.17 for each additional ounce.

As noted, non-zip+4 addresses will not be allowed in automation mailings so costs will go up. You have some choices here:

  • Mail under non-automation rules and pay the higher postage cost.
  • Pull out the non-zip-+4 addresses and mail them separately
  • Discard all non-zip+4 addresses.

For most people, the second option is the best choice, especially if non-zip+4 addresses are corrected after being pulled out. The first option means higher postage costs, and the third means losing part of the mailing list.
